Look Who’s Basking In the Spotlight!

It is my pleasure to once again share my blog with an incredibly talented indie author. Please give a warm welcome to this week’s Rave Reviews Book Club Spotlight Author Nancy M. Bell.

Nancy Bell-400X600

For Storm’s Refuge, my inspiration was a black momma dog I saw on a First Nations reserve near Calgary. She was thin and hungry but we couldn’t catch her. She never made it off. Storm is inspired by her, but is a conglomerate of many rescue dogs I’ve known. The book is dedicated to all the animals who need rescue and to all those who rescue them. I wish I could say they all have happy endings like Storm, but sadly that isn’t true. Animal abuse and cruelty is rampant and since animals are viewed as chattels or property it is very hard to help some of them. I urge everyone to find a reputable animal rescue in your area and support them. Eagles Den Rescue in Clarkton, NC does amazing work in the U.S. I support Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society in Calgary, Alberta.

Book Blurb:

Laurel Rowan is determined to find her estranged grandmother. She wants answers to some questions that arose after her visit to Cornwall. Laurel needs to know why her father is angry with Gramma Bella.  Arriving in the hamlet of Bragg Creek, Alberta, Laurel is disappointed to find Gramma Bella has gone to England. A Christmas visit to her friends in Cornwall seems like a good idea, after all that’s where all the questions started. What she finds there is both exciting and disturbing. Laurel and her friends embark on another adventure over the windswept moors and down the narrow winding streets of Cornish villages. The biggest question is: Where is Gramma Bella and what does Vear Du know about it?

Thank you Nancy for putting a focus on the sickening ways in which some people abuse their pets – thank heavens for those who care enough to rescue these needy animals.

Thanks for having us over today Beem 🙂

Nancy, my wife and I are involved with a Boxer rescue organization and I can’t tell you how much I respect those who help animals who have been abused. It makes one wonder why humans think they can mistreat another loving creature. Thanks Beem for hosting

Hi Shirley. Thanks for the kind words. Somehow I just can’t not help. My husband is a saint LOL He never blinks an eye no matter what critter I bring home.

Thank you, Nancy, for supporting those who can’t help themselves. I live in North Carolina in the U.S. and may check into Eagles Den Rescue. There’s one here called Brother Wolfe Animal Rescue. The organization I work for has a work experience program for high school kids with work-experience and we have placed a few at the Brother Wolf. Here’s there website http://www.bwar.org/. Thanks for hosting, Beem!

Hi Nancy, it is great that you are involved with animal rescue. Your love for animals came through in Storm’s Refuge, which I enjoyed reading 🙂

Beem, thanks for hosting Nancy on her Spotlight tour 🙂

Mistreatment of anyone or anything that’s defenseless is horrible. Cruelty to animals is often the first step to the same treatment of humans. Maybe if society looked at it that way, more would be done to prevent it.
